Advice for Parents
Your child's learning style
Parents should begin by taking a learning style inventory, to understand how their personal styles influence the recommendations they make to their children!!
Then the child should complete the inventory. The results should be shared and discussed together, with an appreciation of each child’s unique gifts and talents.
By recognizing each child’s special qualities, parents can support learning habits linked to individual learning style.
They should encourage each child to learn from his/her personal strengths. They can jointly seek out creative ways to master difficult subject areas.
They should drop false expectations of how each child needs to study or learn, and replace these with more realistic options, which may be quite different from siblings or parents. This will make the learning experience more positive and enjoyable.
In general, parents should also encourage awareness of learning styles among other parents, teachers, and the school system.
